On October 16, actress Han So-hee was accused of using a private Instagram account to leave malicious comments about fellow actress Hyeri. The account in question, “catsaretheavengers”, allegedly left hateful remarks such as, “Even with your sister (Ryu Jun-yeol’s ex-girlfriend Hyeri) and Ryu (Han So-hee’s ex-boyfriend Ryu Jun-yeol) together, they still can’t beat Han So-hee,” and “It must have been nice to get so many likes on Hyeri’s posts thanks to Han So-hee, though they’ve all disappeared now.”

Suspicion arose due to several connections between Han So-hee and the account. Jeon Jong-seo, known to be close friends with Han So-hee, had followed the account since it only had 4 followers. The account was created in March, coinciding with rumors of a “rebound relationship” between Ryu Jun-yeol and Hyeri. Additionally, Han So-hee had posted a photo, which the “catsaretheavengers” account used as its profile picture, on her own Instagram account. The account also follows Han So-hee’s stylist.

As the controversy gained attention, the posts, followers, and followings of the “catsaretheavengers” account were being deleted in real-time. Initially, the account had 10 posts, 6 followers, and 18 followings, but by the afternoon of October 16, these numbers had reduced to 5 posts, 4 followers, and 16 followings. There were also allegations that the phone number linked to the account had been changed after the scandal broke. When logging in with the ID “catsaretheavengers” and clicking “forgot password”, the last two digits of the linked phone number appear, and it has recently changed from ***29 to ***73.

In response to these claims, Han So-hee’s agency, 9ato Entertainment, issued 2 official statements on October 16, firmly denying the allegations. In their second statement, they clarified, “The SNS account exposed in the media does not belong to Han So-hee, and if proven otherwise, we will take full legal responsibility.”

Jeon Jong-seo’s agency, Andmarq, also commented on the situation, stating that it was difficult to verify details regarding the private account due to personal privacy concerns.

The debate among netizens has been intense, with some questioning whether it is necessary to dig into someone’s private life so deeply, while others defended the methods used to uncover the account owner’s identity, asserting that it’s a common tactic for identifying stalker accounts.

With Han So-hee’s agency standing by its denial and pledging legal action if the accusations continue, the controversy surrounding the identity of the malicious commenter remains unresolved.
